Everything Old is New Again

Updated: Jan 10, 2021

I recently noticed that many paper crafting customers are leaning on the oldies but goodies. In this case Decorative Edging Scissors, which are designed for intricate cutting, creating borders and decorating edges on paper. If you started paper crafting in the late 90s early 2000's these were a must have.

When asked about this papercraft staple our friends at The Paper Crafters Muse said "Best thing, is instant texture!"

There are various different designs, which makes these perfect for the crafter on a budget.

Mixed Media artists often use just about anything they can find to make their projects; Upcycle and use everything for something. So something so versatile is a must for your took kit.

One of the most common questions I get about this product about what can you do with them, are they sturdy enough to cut thick paper like cardstock. The simple answer yes! There are so many cool things you can do with these.

One challenge users sometimes have is difficulty lining up a continuous a cut for a border, but the beauty of that edge is undeniable! Sometimes you want a little something different from a torn edge, a nice little zig zag breaks things up.

For example Memory Toolbox put these tags together for the holidays. Check out how a simple addition of decorative edging adds so much character to these tags.

Faux postage stamps are also popular, just check out the tutorial by Blank Page Muse.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, of what you can create. Looks like many of my paper crafters will be having a blast this winter, finding new ways to use such a classic tool.
